🎀 About the Artist 🎀

Hi! My name is Mavis, pronounced with the "A" like in "apple!" If you couldn't already tell, my entire aesthetic is inspired by Sailor Moon. Usagi was my childhood hero growing up, and she still is! It was the first anime I ever watched, other than the original Pokémon series.I am a Two-Spirit Indigenous artist; my pronouns are they/them. I'm Taíno from Puerto Rico, but I'm currently living in the US mainland! I am 32 (born 1991) and love aesthetics from the 80s and 90s.I draw, write, sing, make music, and crochet! I also enjoy several fandoms and enjoy engaging with content that is self-indulgent as I really like certain fictional characters.I am neurodivergent (Autistic + ADHD) and disabled. I pursue what I love doing while listening to my body, and being careful about my physical and mental health.I like to describe my art as cute and colorful with an anime-leaning style! I try to draw art that is inclusive and body positive. You'll see a lot of queer and trans-positive themes in my work, as well as references to my own culture. My art has changed and evolved over time, and I've embraced my love for an anime style inspired by my favorite shows and games.I've been drawing digitally for over 10 years, but I remember drawing from childhood as soon as I was able to pick up a writing utensil. Art came naturally to me, and I've always had more of a creative streak.When I started drawing, I loved to draw my favorite characters from movies and video games. Over time, I used this media for inspiration and began creating my own characters to insert into stories I liked. As a child, the idea of being friends with my favorite characters was the coolest thing in the world.As I grew older, I began writing my own stories. I began exploring themes and adding parallels to my own life, but with the twist of adding a happy ending.Life can be difficult, but I enjoy lighthearted, happier stories where characters get to thrive and heal, even after experiencing their own hardships.

🎀 What tools do you use to make your art?

I use Clip Studio Paint EX with an XP Pen Artist 22R Pro tablet! My tablet is HUGE, so I recommend starting with something smaller if you're a beginner. I also have an iPad Pro (12.9in) with an Apple Pencil. I use Clip Studio on iOS.

🎀 What brushes do you use when you draw?

It really depends on what I'm doing! I download a lot of brushes from Clip Studio Assets. For my sketches and linework, I use my personal brush set.

🎀 How long have you been drawing?

I was born in 1991 and I've been drawing since I could pick up a writing utensil. However, today I prefer digital art over drawing on paper.

🎀 Can I reupload your work with credit?

Please do not reupload my work on any platform, even with credit. Feel free to use in-site features such as reblogging, story shares, and other features that boost my original posts!

🎀 Do you take commissions?

Yes! If you're interested in commissioning me, check out my VGen. VGen makes commissioning easier for both artists and clients. I do not take commissions via DMs.

🎀 Are you available for collabs/art trades?

Thank you for your interest, but I keep these to friends only! I usually don't have time for collabs/trades, as I focus on my personal art and commissions.
